Create and Manage Events on Sites

Summary: This guide provides a detailed walkthrough on how to create events on Sites, covering how to add event details, set recurring schedules, include media, and manage visibility to keep your community informed about upcoming activities.

Before You Begin

  • You must have the necessary permissions to access and modify Sites content.
  • Gather all event details, including Title, Location, Dates, and Description, before you begin.
  • Ensure all image file names for upload exclude special characters and spaces.

Step-by-Step Instructions

1.  Navigate to Sites from your main navigation menu. [Access the core application area for site management.]

2.  Click the + Event button (under 'Quick Add' in the left menu) or the Add Event button (under Content > Events).

3.  Enter the main title and brief subtitle into the Title and Subtitle fields.

4.  Select the desired ministries from the Ministries field. [This will display the event on the corresponding ministry page.]

5.  Select the start and end dates/times in the Event Dates section. * Check the Automatically generate weekly occurrences of this event box if the event runs weekly.

Troubleshooting & FAQs

  • My image is not appearing on the iCal feed: Ensure the image file name does not contain spaces or special characters (e.g., #, $, @). Rename the file to use hyphens or underscores
  • How do I find an event I saved but didn't publish? Click on Content in the left-hand navigation, then Click on Events. Unpublished events will be listed here.
  • The weekly recurrence only shows events for one year: This is expected behavior when using the Add Date, 7 Days Later, or 30 Days Later options. To generate recurring events for a longer, indefinite period, use the Automatically generate weekly occurrences of this event checkbox instead.
