Setting up Giving in Tithely is a simple and secure process that allows your church to start accepting online donations quickly. This guide will walk you through each step, from verifying your identity to connecting your bank account, so you can begin receiving contributions from your congregation with ease.
Step 1: Start the Setup
From your Tithely Dashboard:

Navigate to the Giving product.

Click Set Up Giving to begin.
You'll see a screen titled Start Receiving Donations Today that outlines the setup process. This includes gathering important documents, verifying your legal representative, and entering banking information.
📌 You'll need:

Tax ID (EIN or SSN)

Business address and phone number
-
Legal representative's full name, date of birth, and home address

Bank account and routing number
Check the box to accept the terms and conditions, then click Continue.
Step 2: Verify Your Identity
To proceed, a verification code will be sent to the contact method (text or email) you provided during account creation.

Enter the code to continue to the next step.
Step 3: Connect Your Bank Account
You’ll be prompted to choose between:
Use Stripe Bank Connection (Recommended)

Click Connect Bank via Stripe.

Search for your financial institution.

Log in securely through Stripe’s portal.

Select a checking account you'd like to connect.

Proceed to the next step.
Manually Enter Banking Info

If you choose to manually enter bank details, input your routing and account number (must be a checking account).
Step 4: Enter Business Details
You’ll now enter key business information:

Employer Identification Number (EIN)

Business address and phone number

Industry (choose from the dropdown)

Business website (or add a product description if none is available)
Click Continue to proceed.
Step 5: Verify Legal Representative
You’ll be asked to verify someone with significant responsibility for your organization. Fill out:

Legal name (must match government records)

Email address
-
Job title
-
Date of birth
-
Home address
-
Phone number
-
Social Security Number (SSN)
Click Continue to save your representative’s information.
Step 6: Add Public Business Details
These will appear on receipts and statements:

Business Name (as you want it to appear)

Statement Descriptor (It is recommended this match your church's name)

Optional: Shortened descriptor and website link
Click Continue when finished.
Step 7: Review and Submit
Before completing setup:

Review Business Type and Structure

Confirm that all Business Details, Public Details, and Management and Ownership information are accurate
Click Agree and Submit to finish setting up Giving.
Note: If there are any issues, the correlating box will be highlighted in red. You will be able to select Edit to review and adjust any errors.
Once submitted, your account will be reviewed and verified. When verification is complete, your church will be ready to accept tithes, offerings, and donations online.
