Summary: This guide provides step-by-step instructions for creating a Google Play Developer account for your organization. Following these steps is a necessary prerequisite for publishing your custom Tithely Church App on the Google Play Store.
Before You Begin
- You will need a Google account to register. We highly recommend creating and using a generic account for your organization (e.g., app@yourchurch.com) rather than a personal one.
- You will need a valid credit card to pay the one-time $25 registration fee.
- Important: During signup, you must choose to create an Organization Account. We cannot publish apps under a Personal Account.

- Sign in with your organization's Google account. It is very important to use an account that will be able to manage users and privileges because the account which is used in this step will be the only account that can do certain things: https://play.google.com/apps/publish/signup
- Accept the developer agreement by checking the box, then click the 'Continue to Payment' button.
- Enter your payment details to pay the one-time $25 registration fee and click Pay.
- Complete your account details. When prompted for "Account Type," ensure you select Organization.
- Enter your church's name as the 'Developer Name'. This is the name that will appear publicly on the Google Play Store under your app's title. Once your development account is set up and you can access the Google Play Console (http://play.google.com/apps/publish), you will need to give Tithely access to publish your app to your account.
- Follow the remaining on-screen prompts to complete the verification and setup process.
Troubleshooting & FAQs
- I accidentally signed up for a Personal account. What should I do? It is critical to register as an Organization. If you have already registered as a Personal account, you must contact Google Play support to see if it can be converted. If not, you may need to register a new developer account with a different Google account.
- Can I use my personal Google account instead of creating a new one? While you can, Google strongly recommends using an organizational account. This makes it easier to manage user permissions and prevents issues if the person who owns the personal account leaves the church.
- My account is approved. What's next? Once your developer account is fully set up, the next step is to grant Tithely access so we can publish your app. Please see our guide on .
