Summary: This guide explains how to integrate a YouTube or Vimeo channel/playlist into your church app. Following these steps allows your app to automatically pull in and display your latest videos for sermons, announcements, and events.
Before You Begin
You must be an Admin to access the App Dashboard.
Your videos must be hosted on YouTube or Vimeo. Other video platforms are not currently supported for direct feed integration.
Important: Ensure your videos have embedding enabled on their respective platforms, or they will not play in the app.
Step-by-Step Instructions
Option 1: Adding a YouTube Feed
Log in to your Tithely account and select Apps from the main menu.
Click on Video in the left-hand menu, then click the Add New button.
Select Youtube from the "What platform are you using?" dropdown menu.
Find your YouTube ID (Channel or Playlist) in a new browser tab:
For a Channel ID: Sign in to YouTube, go to Settings > Advanced Settings, and copy the Channel ID.
For a Playlist ID: Navigate to your playlist URL. Copy the string of characters after list= (e.g., in ...&list=PLIJdJz..., the ID is PLIJdJz...).
Paste the ID into the "Youtube Playlist or Channel Id" field in Tithely.
Enter a Tab Name (e.g., "Sermons") and a Long Tab Name (optional).
Select Active from the status options and click Save.
Option 2: Adding a Vimeo Feed
Log in to your Tithely account and select Apps from the main menu.
Click on Video in the left-hand menu, then click the Add New button.
Select Vimeo from the "What platform are you using?" dropdown menu.
Enter your Vimeo Username into the field.
Note: You can find this by logging into Vimeo and looking at the end of your profile URL.
Enter a Tab Name (e.g., "Worship") and a Long Tab Name (optional).
Select Active from the status options and click Save.
Troubleshooting & FAQs
Why won't my YouTube video play in the app? This often happens if embedding is disabled for that specific video. You must go to your YouTube video settings and ensure the "Allow embedding" option is checked. If YouTube has flagged a video, they may disable embedding automatically.
Can I add a single video file instead of a feed? This tool is designed for feeds (Channels/Playlists/Users). To add individual video files or specific links, consider using an App Page.
My Vimeo videos aren't showing up. Double-check that you entered your Vimeo Username correctly and not your full display name or email address. Also, ensure your videos are set to "Public" privacy settings.
