Summary: This article explains why email delays may occur during high-volume periods and provides actionable steps to track your email's progress and ensure timely delivery.
Before You Begin
Permissions: Ensure you have the appropriate permissions to send emails and view Account Settings within Tithely People.
Awareness: Be aware that Thursdays are global peak volume days, which may impact delivery speed.
Step-by-Step Instructions
To ensure your ministry stays on schedule and avoids the "sending queue" rush, follow these steps when planning your communications.
Schedule your email at least 2 hours early. If you need an email to land in inboxes by 10:00 AM on a Thursday, set the schedule time for 8:00 AM. This buffer accounts for potential queue times during peak hours.
Select an off-peak day for non-urgent communications. The default day for many volunteer reminders and weekend announcements is Thursday. If your content is ready, choose Tuesday or Wednesday to avoid the global rush and achieve faster delivery.
Use the Send Later feature. Instead of clicking "Send" at the exact moment you want the message to go out, utilize the scheduling tools to queue your message in advance.
Monitor your email status in the Email Log. If you want to check the progress of a batch, navigate to Account Settings > History > Email Log. (Note: You may see a status of "Processing." This is normal during high-traffic periods.)
Troubleshooting & FAQs
Why is my email delayed? Tithely People serves thousands of churches simultaneously. To prevent emails from being flagged as spam by providers like Gmail or Outlook, the system processes emails in a controlled queue. On high-volume days—specifically Thursdays—it may take up to two hours for your email to begin sending once you've clicked send.
What does the "Processing" status mean? This means your email is safely in the queue and will be dispatched as soon as the system reaches your place in line.
Important: Please avoid clicking "Send" a second time while the status is "Processing," as this may result in duplicate messages being sent to your congregation.
Why don't you just send them all at once? Sending millions of emails at the exact same second is a "red flag" for internet service providers (ISPs). By "throttling" the queue during peak times, Tithely People protects your sender reputation. This ensures that when your email arrives, it lands in the Inbox rather than the Spam folder.
