Creating an Inbox Tab in Your Custom App

Summary: If you are looking for an easier way for users to access their messages, you can create a custom weblink tab directly in your app. This guide walks you through adding a new tab using a special deep link to save your members time and improve their overall app experience.

Before You Begin

  • You must be logged into Tithely as an Admin to make changes to the app structure.

  • Important Note: The Inbox feature may not be available in older versions of the app. Encourage your members to keep their app updated!

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Log in to your Tithely account as an Admin.

  2. Select Apps from the main Dashboard.

  3. Select Tabs from the app menu and scroll to the bottom of the Tabs page.

  4. Click the + icon to add a new tab to your More Menu.

  5. Edit the Tab Icon by clicking the icon placeholder on the left of your new tab.

    • [This will open a pop-up with a view of different icon options. Choose one that represents an inbox or messages.]

  6. Type a title into the Name field.

    • [This shorter name will appear directly under the icon in the app.]

  7. Type a title into the Long Name field.

    • [This name will appear in the 'More' menu to the right of your icon.]

  8. Enter app://show-inbox exactly as written into the Link field.

  9. Click Save.

    • [Now, when a user clicks on the new tab you just created, it will take them directly to their Inbox!]

Troubleshooting & FAQs

  • Can I link to the Inbox from other places in the app? Yes! The app://show-inbox URL also works on Layouts. You can easily add a button or a banner to your app's home layout that directs users straight to the Inbox.

  • Why isn't the Inbox tab working for some members? The Inbox functionality requires a compatible version of the app. If a member is tapping the link and nothing happens, have them check the App Store or Google Play Store to ensure they are running the most recent update.
