Summary: This guide highlights the newly restored People widgets on the Giving dashboard and explains how Admins can resolve the "duplicate people found" warning by merging profiles to ensure accurate reporting.
Before You Begin
Restored Widgets: The Giving dashboard once again includes the following People widgets: First Time Givers, Top Givers, Lapsed Givers, At Risk, Frequent Givers, All Givers (located in Quick Insights), and Giver by Average Weekly Gift.
Permissions Required: You must be a 2.0 MDS customer to access the duplicate merging tool. If you do not have permission to merge duplicates in the People area, the dashboard banner will instruct you to contact your Admin.
Data Sync Delay: The Giving dashboard does not update instantly. It updates every hour on the hour, and the data sync job can take between 1 and 20 minutes to complete.
Step-by-Step Instructions
Option 1: Resolve Duplicates (Recommended)
Click the Review duplicates link located in the yellow warning banner at the top of your Giving dashboard.
Follow the prompts in the 2.0 People area to merge any duplicate records. Verify this step was successful when the duplicate profiles no longer appear in your active people list.
Wait until the next hourly update finishes (this can take up to 80 minutes depending on when you merge). The dashboard will refresh and fix your widgets automatically once the data sync is complete.
Option 2: Reveal Widgets Without Merging (Not Recommended)
Click the View data button on any of the duplicate People widgets.
Click the Warning Sign button in the pop-up window to confirm you want to unlock the dashboard.(Note: Your widget data may be inaccurate until you successfully merge your duplicate profiles. Verify this step was successful when the warning effect is instantly removed from all widgets on your dashboard).
Troubleshooting & FAQs
Why is there a warning on my widgets in the first place? Duplicate people records cause inaccurate giving insights. For example, a top giver's total contributions might be split across two separate accounts, hiding them from the "Top Givers" widget. The system calls out duplicates in the widgets to alert you that the data being displayed is likely incorrect until duplicates are merged.
I just merged my duplicates, why is my dashboard still showing duplicates? The Giving dashboard only updates every hour on the hour (e.g., 1:00, 2:00), and the system job can take an additional 1 to 20 minutes to finish. If you merge profiles at 12:02, the changes will not be fully reflected until around 1:20.
