Summary: This guide explains how to update an existing People profile using fresh data provided in a Forms entry, detailing the strict field matching requirements (Name, Type, Order), the special behaviors of standard fields (Phone, Email, Address), and the process for manually connecting entries or pushing updates to already-connected profiles.
Before You Begin
- The purpose is to update a profile (e.g., changing a phone number or adding allergy information) using a Forms submission.
- Exact Matching is required: The Name, Spelling, Type, and Order of field options must match between the Form and the People profile field.
- Warning: Once a connection is made and the profile is updated, the action cannot be undone. Consider exporting your people data before connecting Forms for the first time.
Step-by-Step Instructions
Connecting a New Form Entry to Update a Profile
- Navigate to "Forms".
- Click "View Entries" under the Form you'd like to view the results for.
- Click (connect) next to the entry to link it with a profile in the database. [If the Form data differs from the existing profile data, Tithely will prompt you to ask if you want to update the profile based on the Form data.]
Updating an Already Connected Profile
- Navigate to "Forms".
- Click "View Entries" under the Form you'd like to view the results for.
- Click "View" next to the entry you'd like to have updated the profile.
- In the bottom left, click the arrow next to the "Edit" button and select "Update Profile."
Linking Forms Responses to People Profiles
| Field Name | Description |
| Name | Only one native "Name" field can be used per Form. If you need to collect multiple "names" you will want to use a text box field to collect additional names. |
| Home Phone | Form fields with this name will map to the profile's "Home" phone number field |
| Work Phone | Form fields with this name will map to the profile's "Work" phone number field |
| Mobile Phone | Form fields with this name will map to the profile's "Mobile" phone number field |
| Cell Phone | Form fields with this name will map to the profile's "Mobile" phone number field |
| Phone | Form fields with this name will map to the profile's "Mobile" phone number field |
| Birthdate | Form fields with this name will map to the profile's "Age" field (expects a date format) |
| Birth Date | Form fields with this name will map to the profile's "Age" field (expects a date format) |
| Middle Name | This field does not automatically map from Forms to profiles. You will need to manually add middle names to individual profiles after Form entries are processed.

- Why did Tithely offer me a manual association? This happens if the system cannot find an exact match (Name, Email, and/or Address) in your database OR if new data is being introduced in the Form entry that is not in the entrant's profile.
- My custom field data isn't transferring: The field name and type must be exact matches. For example, if the profile field is a Text field called "Allergies," the form field must also be a Text field called "Allergies." Any extra characters will break the connection.
- What fields does Tithely check for Automatic Association? Tithely attempts automatic association when the following fields are filled in both the Form and the Profile: Name, Email, and/or Address.
