How to Set Up Account Notifications

Summary: This guide explains how Admins and Pastors can configure email notifications for Tithely Giving (such as deposit alerts and failed gifts) and set up weekly or monthly summaries for database updates like birthdays, follow-ups, new people, attendance, and anniversaries.

Before You Begin

  • Notifications apply only to the specific user account you are currently signed into.
  • Only the data and people to which your user account has admin access will be sent in a notification. For example:
    • Birthday: Requires the People > View > Age permission.
    • Follow Ups: Requires the Follow Ups > View Assigned to Others permission.
    • New People: Requires the Manage Account > [Any Option] permission.
    • Attendance: Requires the Events > Check In Reports permission.

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Click on the main menu and select the Notifications option located under the My User section.(Note: You will see your email address listed on the left-hand side confirming who the notifications will apply to).
  2. Toggle your preferred options under My Account Notification Settings to manage giving-related alerts. You can choose to turn on or off:
    • Receive emails when a recurring gift fails for a donor.
    • Receive a Giving Summary email.
    • Receive an email when a deposit hits the organization's account.

  3. Click the Save button for the account settings section.
  4. Customize your Specific Email Notification Settings to receive regular updates from your church database:
    • Birthdays: Select a day of the month to receive a monthly email listing the following month's birthdays.
    • Follow Ups: Select a day of the week to receive a weekly email listing assigned, completed, and past-due follow-ups from the previous week.
    • New People: Select a day of the week to receive a weekly email listing people added to the database over the past week.
    • Attendance: Select a day of the week to receive a weekly email showing an attendance overview for the past week.
    • Anniversaries: Select an anniversary type (e.g., wedding, baptism) and choose a day of the month to receive a monthly email listing upcoming anniversaries.

  5. Click the Save button at the bottom of the section to confirm your specific email settings.

Troubleshooting & FAQs

  • Where are these notification emails sent? The emails are sent directly to the email address you are currently logged in as, which is displayed on the left-hand side of the notifications page.
  • Why are some people missing from my Birthday or Anniversary notifications? Notifications respect your user permissions. If your user role restricts you to only viewing a specific tag or group (e.g., High School Kids), those are the only dates that will be sent to your email. Archived people are also completely excluded from these lists.
